What are the distinct differences between
what I build and my competition?
To properly address that question you
would have to understand a little of my background. The
first major distinctive is that I planned my future in
the aerospace industry. I graduated from college with
a degree as a professional pilot. I never had any intention
of becoming a builder! This is not the typical approach
to becoming a builder. Consequently as a result of this
very different builder’s background I have never
done much of anything for the sole reason ‘all builder’s
do it this way’.
In 1975 when I first began building
I made it my ambition as some say ‘to build the
better mouse trap’. This mandate required that my
attention would always be turned toward the ‘up
and coming technology’ for new ideas. How could
this new technology be integrated into construction practices?
My early days in home designs came about at a time when
there was great uncertainty with oil and gas supplies.
NASA at that time was also involved in the building technology
business with ongoing research conducted at ‘The
Langley Research Center’.
At this time I forged a way of incorporating
wood, coal and solar heating systems into my home designs.
Since those were new innovations at the time I also had
to design and build control panels to run all that ‘neat
high tech stuff’.
